Syncing, Project & Workbench

Syncing Changes Between AI and Designer

The AI workbench and the Ignition Designer operate on the same project but may get out of sync. A bidirectional sync ensures both sides have the latest changes.

Sync Workflow

The recommended flow for syncing manual Designer changes into the AI workbench:

  1. Save your changes in the Ignition Designer.

  2. Click the sync icon (rotating arrows) in the top navigation bar in devOS.

  3. If a sync confirmation dialog is configured, confirm the sync. Otherwise, it starts immediately.

  4. The sync icon animates (spins) while the sync is in progress.

  5. Once the sync completes, click the merge button in the Ignition Designer to accept the merged state.

Automatic Sync Warnings

When the AI is generating changes and a sync cycle is in progress, a warning banner appears across the top of the Designer view:

"Sync in progress while syncing AI changes. Any manual changes made now will be lost."

Wait for the sync to complete before making manual changes in the Designer.
